About the AIDBA exam
BCS gives AIDBA to senior business analysts who can prove consultant-level work, at SFIAplus Level 6. The evidence has three parts: the International Diploma in Business Analysis, four Professional-level certificates across the analytical, business and people specialisms, and a written portfolio of senior work. Candidates also need five or more years as a senior analyst, working at SFIA Level 5 and partly at Level 6. Completing every part earns the Advanced International Diploma in Business Analysis, which does not expire.
The PlanetCert practice test spreads its questions evenly across the three specialisms and the portfolio part. It suits the knowledge side of the certificate exams, while the portfolio itself rests on evidence from real projects. Flashcard mode suits the many models and frameworks, from CATWOE to the benefits dependency network. Brainy AI Assistant can explain what a stage of the Business Analysis Process Model asks for, or how a benefits map differs from a benefits dependency network.

How to prepare for AIDBA
- 1
Plan the four certificates
Choose four Professional certificates so that the analytical, business and people specialisms are all covered. Check which ones are already held, and book the rest in an order that fits current work.
- 2
Start a portfolio log now
Keep notes from current projects for each stage of the Business Analysis Process Model, with dates, roles and results. The strongest evidence comes from real work at SFIA Level 5 and Level 6.
- 3
Record community work and CPD
Log mentoring, talks, articles and professional body work, together with CPD records and a development plan. Part B asks for both.
- 4
Go deep on one people skill
Pick stakeholder engagement or team leadership, and collect specific examples of it in practice. The portfolio asks for one of the two, and the people specialism tests the theory behind it.
- 5
Test each specialism before booking
Work through the AIDBA practice test one specialism at a time in Study Mode, then take a Timed Mode run before each certificate exam. Ask Brainy AI Assistant about any finance or benefits answer that went wrong.
