About the ITIL5-FND exam
ITIL5-FND is the PeopleCert exam for people learning how organizations create value with digital products and services under ITIL (Version 5). It checks recall and understanding of seven syllabus categories, not hands-on tool skills. The ITIL Value System and the key terms carry most of the marks, while the lifecycle, the four dimensions, value streams, AI and other frameworks share the rest. Passing earns the ITIL Foundation (Version 5) certificate, the first step in the Version 5 qualification scheme.
Many Foundation questions turn on one word, so the explanations in the PlanetCert practice test say why a near-miss option is wrong. Typical pairs are an incident and an event, a problem and a known error, or a customer and a sponsor. Study Mode suits the long definition lists in the key terms category. Timed practice suits the value system, where questions mix guiding principles, governance and the continual improvement steps. Brainy AI Assistant can turn a definition into a short service example, or explain how a release differs from a test in the value chain.

How to prepare for ITIL5-FND
- 1
Learn the seven categories by weight
The ITIL Value System and the key terms carry most of the marks. Plan the most study hours for those two, and short sessions for AI and other frameworks.
- 2
Build a personal definitions sheet
Write each 'Define' objective as one plain sentence: value, outcome, incident, known error, service request, governance. Rewrite any line that needs a second sentence.
- 3
Walk one service through eight activities
Pick a familiar service, such as a company laptop. Describe what discover, design, acquire, build, transition, operate, deliver and support each mean for it.
- 4
Tie each principle to a story
For each guiding principle, write one short work situation where it applies. 'Optimize and automate' and 'keep it simple and practical' are easy to confuse without examples.
- 5
Close with timed practice rounds
Take the ITIL5-FND practice test against the clock. For each wrong answer, read the explanation and ask Brainy AI Assistant which word in the question pointed to the right option.
