About the ACA-900 exam
Everyday Jira users take ACA-900 to earn the Atlassian Certified Associate - Jira Essentials certification. The exam checks that they can create, update and track work in Jira Software Cloud. Working with Work Items is the largest domain, and workflows and boards come next. Jira basics, navigation and Rovo make up the rest. Rovo is Atlassian's AI-powered assistant.
Like the exam, the PlanetCert practice test gives the most weight to Working with Work Items, then to workflows and boards. The explanations help most with look-alike features, such as an @mention versus Share, or a Fix Version versus an Affects Version. Flashcard mode suits the issue types and key fields, from Epic to Story Points. Brainy AI Assistant can explain why a board column maps to a status, or turn a plain-language search into simple JQL.

How to prepare for ACA-900
- 1
Open a free Jira Cloud site
Create a free Jira Cloud site and set up one Scrum project and one Kanban project. Every task in the syllabus can then be tried on real screens.
- 2
Run one sprint from start to finish
Fill a backlog with epics, stories and sub-tasks, plan a sprint, move cards through the columns and complete it. Watch how each column maps to a workflow status.
- 3
Practise every work item action
Working with Work Items is the largest domain. Create, edit, clone, link, move, convert and bulk-change issues, and compare an @mention with Share on the same issue.
- 4
Turn searches into saved filters
Search by status, assignee, type and priority, save each search as a filter, and build a board or a dashboard gadget from one. Then read the JQL that Jira wrote for it.
- 5
Check Rovo, then sit a timed run
Open Rovo in Jira once and try Search and Chat on the sample project. Then take the ACA-900 practice test in Timed mode and review each miss with Brainy AI Assistant.
