Explain the role and function of: Option lists Inputs Request scrips Translation scripts16%23 questions
This domain covers the fields users fill in when they provision. Candidates build option lists, bind them to inputs, and use request and translation scripts to call a data source and turn its reply into choices.
Skills tested
- Build static, REST and local script option lists as the source for dropdowns.
- Create custom inputs, bind them to option lists and use their values as variables.
- Write a request script that passes parameters into a data source request.
- Write a translation script that maps JSON fields to selectable values.

Display an understanding of Multi-tier application blueprints and HPE Morpheus Enterprise Software application deployments.19%29 questions
This domain covers delivering whole applications. Candidates build multi-tier application blueprints with tiers, instance types and boot order, and use deployments to push versioned code into existing infrastructure.
Skills tested
- Define tiers, instance types and boot order in an application blueprint.
- Build and provision a full application stack from a blueprint.
- Create deployments with versions from files or git, and deploy them to existing instances.
- Attach workflows to instances and blueprints.

About the HPE0-G05 exam
HPE0-G05 is HPE's exam for engineers who build automation in HPE Morpheus Enterprise Software. Its largest domain covers Cypher secrets, archives, tasks, workflows, and script and file templates. The other domains cover variables, the API and CLI, option lists and inputs, and multi-tier application blueprints with deployments. Passing earns the HPE Advanced Product Certified - HPE Morpheus Enterprise Software Automation Specialist certification, and the path has no prerequisites.
In the PlanetCert practice test, the domain on Cypher, archives, tasks, workflows and templates has the most questions, and it is also the largest on the exam. The explanations show how the parts connect, such as how an option list feeds an input, or which variables exist before provisioning ends. Study Mode suits the API domain, where a header, a token or a response code decides the answer. Brainy AI Assistant can explain a variable syntax question, or walk through how a translation script turns JSON fields into dropdown values.

How to prepare for HPE0-G05
- 1
Automate one build end to end
Store a password in Cypher, call it from a shell script task, and add the task to a post-provision workflow. Then provision an instance and read the task output.
- 2
Give the first domain most hours
Cypher, archives, tasks, workflows and templates carry the largest weight. Build each one by hand, and check that a file template lands on the host with the right path and permissions.
- 3
Print variables at each phase
Echo the same variables from a pre-provision task and a post-provision task, and compare the output. The gap shows which values exist only after the build.
- 4
Drive the API from a terminal
Get an access token, read a list of instances through the REST API, then send a bad token on purpose and note the response code. Repeat one task with the Morpheus CLI.
- 5
Rebuild every missed scenario
Take the HPE0-G05 practice test in Timed Mode. For each missed option list or blueprint question, ask Brainy AI Assistant why the answer holds, then rebuild the case in the lab.

HPE0-G05 glossary
17 terms from the exam objectives and the vendor's official material, each defined in a sentence.
- Access tokens
- Tokens that a user or script obtains from Morpheus and sends with each API request. They expire and can be refreshed.
- Archives
- Morpheus storage for files and artifacts, kept in buckets, that automation can fetch through a link.
- Cypher
- The secrets store built into Morpheus. It keeps passwords and keys as key/value secrets that tasks and templates can reference.
- Deployments
- Versioned application artifacts in Morpheus that can be deployed into existing instances.
- Execution targets
- The place where a task runs, for example the provisioned resource or the Morpheus appliance itself.
- File templates
- Templated configuration files that Morpheus writes to a provisioned host, with a set destination path and permissions.
- HPE Morpheus Enterprise Software CLI
- The command-line tool for running Morpheus operations and scripts from a terminal, including against a remote appliance.
- Inputs
- Custom fields, such as text boxes, dropdowns and checkboxes, that collect values from a user at provisioning time.
- Multi-tier application blueprints
- Templates that define a full application stack as tiers, such as web, application and database, with the order in which the tiers start.
- Option lists
- Lists of name and value pairs that fill a dropdown input, taken from static entries, a REST call or a local script.
- Pre-provisioning variables
- Variables whose values exist before provisioning completes, so pre-provision tasks can use them.
- Request scripts
- Scripts that prepare the request an option list sends to its data source, for example by adding parameters.
- Script templates
- Reusable script bodies that several tasks can share instead of each repeating the same code.
- Tasks
- Single automation steps, such as a shell or Python script, that Morpheus runs on a chosen target.
- Translation scripts
- Scripts that turn a data source's response into the name and value pairs an option list shows.
- Variable contexts
- The scope a variable comes from, such as the instance, the server or the cloud. The context decides when the variable is available.
- Workflows
- Ordered sets of tasks. Provisioning workflows run at set phases of a build, and operational workflows run on existing instances.
